“ Movies are the only escape from the drudgery of work and family … No offense.Well, I don’t have any Kitchen updates as my morning didn’t really start out quite as I had hoped. I got out of the shower about 7:15am this morning and heard the door bell ring. I got dressed, ran down stairs, and found that it was the Appliance guys here to deliver our new kitchen appliances. I told them I would open the garage and move the car so they could get the appliances into the garage.
Well, it just so happened to be a rainy morning, not much light, and my rear view window wasn’t the cleanest. With all of these going on, I was being very cautious about backing out of the driveway as I saw that their truck was parked halfway through the exit. As I am backing out, I consider stopping and turning around so that I go face forward out of the driveway, but looking at my mirrors and through the rear view camera, there seems to be just enough room to get by without having to go over grass and without hitting their bumper. As I am pulling out (about 2-3mph) all of the sudden I hear a crunch, and as I look back, the entire rear glass window shatters! I have no idea what has happened as I thought I had plenty of room. I get out of the car, and realize their lift gate is down, and that is what I hit. I’m not certain whether or not they had just put it down, which I highly suspect but they wouldn’t confirm, but if you look at the pictures and imagine that the gate is at about the same exact eye level as my mirrors and camera, you can see that it is very thin, and also given the weather conditions, you can probably tell why I didn’t see it. Both guys were in the truck at the time I hit the truck, which makes me think they had just recently put it down, but neither of them saw me coming and couldn’t say anything.
So, now we are without the car for about a week as it gets repaired. They have to replace the rear window, two driver side rear tail lights, and fix the slight dent in front of the tail light. Luckily, the slight dent is the only body damage, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t costly. I guess that is what insurance is for. Below are some of the images and a link to the album.
