Cisco Telepresence

In case you hadn’t seen it or heard about it, Cisco has a new product that will change the way people meet.  To fully appreciate, you have to experience it, as you do truly feel like the people are in the room with you.  Anyways, here are some video clips to let you see what I am talking about.

New Era for FSU

After FSU suffered quite possibly its most embarrassing game that I can remember, a 30-0 drubbing at the hands of Wake Forest, the offensive coordinator has decided to step down at the end of the season.  Unfortunately, this won’t help us for the Florida game, but it should help their recruiting.  Either way, it is time for a new era of FSU football…at least offensively.

Long lost brothers

So, I was checking out the NBA sports page on yahoo today and the following picture just jumped right out at me.  Normally, it is the big picture on the page that is most important, but this is the one that caught my attention.  Why?  Well, it is because I thought my cousin David had been hired by Yahoo! sports to write about the NBA, which is about as far off as me writing for Vanity Fair.  Now, my cousin knows something about sports, but not enough to write for Yahoo!  Anyways, I’ll let you be the judge.  Unfortunately, I don’t have a great pic of David, but you get the idea.

Cisco Park

In case you haven’t heard, the Oakland A’s have decided to move from Oakland down to Fremont, which is closer to San Jose.  As if this wasn’t news in and of itself, they are going to be leasing land from Cisco, and it is supposed to be the most high tech ballparks of all time.  I have heard plenty of rumors recently about this announcement, but it has finally been made public a few days ago.  The funny thing is that I have seen plenty of demos with John Chambers simulating what a new high tech ballpark would look like, but didn’t put the two pieces together until the rumors started to swirl.  Anyways, this is good news for me as I can probably make some more games, and it won’t be such a pain to get up there.  Here is a link about the upcoming ball park:

In case getting one major team further south wasn’t enough, the 49ers also decided that they are going to move south to Santa Clara.  Their training facilities and offices are already in Santa Clara, so it somewhat makes sense.  Who knows, with all the major teams moving closer to San Jose, perhaps San Jose will become the big city in the Bay Area.  Here is the info about the Niners’ move:

The missing camera

In case you haven’t noticed, we have not had a lot of pictures to add to our gallery lately. Well, that is due in large part to the fact that we couldn’t find the camera. Of course, Barbie got motivated and said that we needed a new camera, which means if I didn’t find it quickly, she would come home within the next week with a brand new one. We both had done a quick search, but couldn’t find it, and were pretty much resolved to the fact that either someone had taken it or that we left it in Miami. The good news is that neither of those ended up being the case, as I eventually found the culprit. See image below.

So, it was Barbie, in the Jail Cell, with the blue jacket!!

In case that didn’t explain it, basically Barbie left the camera in her jacket pocket, and since San Francisco Bay is probably the only cold spot anywhere near here, she never had to put the jacket back on, so we never found it. The good news is that we found it and didn’t go out to buy a new one.

Eating Healthy causes Canker Sores

Well, if you read the title of this post it must have intrigued your interest. I’m not sure the quote is 100% accurate, or just an interpretation of some events that happened to me. If you have never had a Canker sore, then be glad b/c you are one of the lucky ones to not have to deal with one of the most annoying and painful things during life. Canker sores are not Cold Sores. Cankers sores are in the mouth, and are not contagious, whereas Cold Sores are on the outside of the mouth and are highly contagious. No one really is certain why canker sores occur, but there are some theories out there which point to stress and also a high acidic level in the mouth. So, you may be asking why all the information on this subject? Well, I have recently gotten a couple of canker sores, but they were the direct result of having cut my lip/gums. Both times came while playing basketball, so I guess I am getting a little slower in my old age and haven’t been able to avoid the flying elbows. Anyways, when I was younger I used to never get a canker sore just from having a cut in my mouth, so I was really confused why it was happening all of the sudden. After researching a ton, I finally figured it out, and it was because I was eating healthy…specifically right after playing and getting cut. Both times I just happened to bring an Orange in to work, so I would eat that after playing ball, which in turn caused the acidic levels in my mouth to shoot through the roof, and since there was an open cut it in my mouth at the time, the cut would turn into a canker sore. So, eating healthy causes canker sores…sort of.

Now, onto the remedies of how to deal with these buggers. Unfortunately, there is no tried and true method, but there are a lot of old wive’s tails, plus some over the counter options, although nothing is a cure all. These cures range from rinsing your mouth with warm salt water or baking soda and water, all the way to using deodorant and/or ear wax! I must admit I have tried the deodorant option a long time ago, and it literally cured it over night, but after trying it again it never did work as good. This time I am trying the baking soda option to reduce the acidic levels in my mouth, and it may be working, but definitely not quick enough. Anyways, this was your medical lesson for the day, and if you have any other home remedies, please let me know.
