Prison vs. Work

IN PRISON… you spend the majority of your time in an 8×10 cell;
AT WORK… you spend the majority of your time in a 6×8 cubicle.

IN PRISON… you get three meals a day;
AT WORK… you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON… you get time off for good behavior;
AT WORK…you get rewarded for good behavior with more work.

IN PRISON… the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you;
AT WORK… you must carry around a security card and open all the doors for yourself.

IN PRISON… you can watch TV and play games;
AT WORK… you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON… you get your own toilet;
AT WORK… you have to share with some idiot who pees on the seat.

IN PRISON… they allow your family and friends to visit;
AT WORK… you can’t even speak to your family.

IN PRISON… all expenses are paid by the tax-payers with no work required;
AT WORK… you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON… you spend most of your life looking through bars from inside wanting to get out.
AT WORK… you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON… you must deal with sadistic wardens;
AT WORK…they are called managers.

Deep Thoughts for the day…

Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use
the Internet and they won’t bother you for weeks.

Some people are like Slinkies . . . not really good for anything, but you still can’t help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

Have you noticed since everyone has a camcorder these days no one talks about seeing UFOs like they use to.

Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Why does a slight tax increase cost you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?

In the 60’s people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

AND THE # 1 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
You read about all these Terrorists-most of them came here legally, but they hung around on these expired visas, some for as long as 10-15 years. Now, compare that to Blockbuster; you are two days late with a video and those people are all over you. Let’s put Blockbuster in charge of immigration.

Overtime bonanza on Friday night

Friday night there were two big games going on. I’m sure most of you only knew about the Miami vs. Ohio St. National Championship game, but there was also a mighty battle going on in Palo Alto between the Castilleja JV girls and Harker JV girls in basketball. If you happened to catch either of these two games, then you were blessed to have witnessed one great game…but if you happened to catch both like myself…then Christmas came twice for you.
The night started with the girls game, in which we (Harker) were playing against probably one of the best teams in the league. The first quarter was high scoring..but the 2nd quarter both teams cooled off. I think we were down by about 4 at halftime. By the time the 4th quarter rolled around we were down by 9 points…which is a lot in JV girls basketball. However, the girls stormed back and tied with a 3 pointer by Casey with about 4 minutes to go in the game. The game then went back and forth. Just to end the suspense, the game ended up going to 3 overtimes…in which case we were always up by a couple of points with less than a minute to go…only to have the other tie up and send it into another overtime. Finally, in the 3rd overtime the girls were able to hold on for the victory…increasing our record to 3-1 and dropping Castilleja to 5-2.

If that game wasn’t enough for one night, I then proceeded to head home and watch the nat’l championship game…which I had recorded. I made sure that no one would tell me the score so I could watch it semi-live. The game was crazy and Miami struggled to hold onto the ball. I give Ohio St. credit for their defensive dominance throughout the game. Regulation came down to a last second Field Goal by the Canes to tie it up and send it to overtime. OT started with a convincing drive by the Canes to go up by 7. The Buckeyes struggled on their drive but converted on 4th and 13, and a controversial 4th and 3 on the goal line…the reason for the controversy is because of a mysterious Pass Interference in the endzone. I disagree with the call…but the Canes did get their own mis-call when the referees called an Ohio St. player out of bounds in regulation to force them to punt. The game ended in the 2nd overtime with Ohio St. scoring a TD, and UM failing to score when they had the ball 1st and goal on the 2 yard line. No excuses on this one… you need to convert that!! I guess UM is truly cursed when it comes to winning national championships in even numbered years.

So both football teams are done…

I can’t say that the football season ended happily for either of my teams. FSU played well in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia, but a couple of costly mistakes is all it takes when you have the 4th string QB and 3rd string RB in the game. Boldin is the man though! As for the Dolphins, they basically choked! No excuses for them! It was just another sad December for the Fins.
